“We need to work harder to inspire a younger generation, building Rotaract as a vital force within our organization and giving our clubs better ways to help members develop their skills and their leadership.”
- Barry Rassin, 2018-2019 Rotary International President
WHO WE ARE
The Rotary Club of Jacksonville-Oceanside recognized the need for a Rotaract club in the Southside area and contacted former Rotaractors to get a club started. By May 2018, Town Center Rotaract was established with six founding Board Members. The Board designed a flexible club structure conducive to busy young professionals. The club currently maintains 20 members.
Town Center Rotaract seeks to celebrate and cultivate diverse, meaningful relationships, inspire people into action, and tend to the needs of our Jacksonville community and beyond. We want to be the change in our community by boldly empowering young professionals of all cultures and identities to embody service above self.
WHAT IS ROTARACT?
Rotaract originally began as a Rotary International youth program in 1968 at Charlotte North Rotary Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States, and has grown into a major Rotary-sponsored organization of over 9,522 clubs spread around the world and 291,006 members. It is a service, leadership, professional and community service organization young men and women.
Rotaract focuses on the development of young adults as leaders in their communities and workplaces. Clubs around the world also take part in international service projects, in a global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world.
“Rotaract” stands for “Rotary in Action”, although the name originally comes from a combination of “Rotary” and “Interact” (International + Action), the high school level program created by Rotary International in 1962.
